Today was certainly an interesting one. I had initially planned on writing some relatively well-thought out prose about overnight travelling using India’s rail system. And while this was a treuly surreal experience (as much of this trip has been thus far) filled with a bit of our luck that has been fueling the trip thus far. We were fortunate to be grouped together with a bunch of other Westerners and were just able to laugh and hang half of the night and pretty much talk with people who were culturally similiar to ourselves (which was a good change from buisness as normal so far). I was going to fill this paragraph with talk about how incredible and terrifying and satifying the night train was.
I was going to do these things until Taylor and my luck ran out and the exhastion finally caught up (and still is catching up) to us. Early this morning these things combined with my own personal careless when one minute I had my backpack and the next second it had disappeared from the overhead compartment. Initially, I was prepared to accept my destiny as another victim of my own relaxation. However, after being riled up by some Europeans who had had a similar experience further south, went to the police station. The very lengthy experience (in which they wanted me to return here in 3-4 months to testify to a magistrate) has made me currently bitter and frustrated with the entire trip and it sadens me to say so. However, this is just a minor setback in the length of the trip and hopefully (knock on wood) we got most of our bad luck of the way now.
Again we continue to hope that all is well on your side of the world (wherever that may be at this particular moment). We miss you dearly and talk about you frequently. I must apologize for any resentment contained within this post. Give it all hopefully three days for so and I will be laughing about this (in the same way that Taylor and I are laughing about our MagLites being conviscated by LAX airport security) and the posts will resume their normal, hopefully rather informative playful banter.
Thanks for continuing to read!!!
Hey Sean, is there anything we can do about your backpack besides think worried thoughts. Let us know.
Dear Sean,
What a blow! Whatever you want, name it and if we can do it, we will. Our love and prayers, Papa and Mums
So your whole backpack is gone?? Did you have anything on you, or is it all gone?
While I am sure that your parents can do more, let me know if you need anything.
… Just think, you won’t have to carry around as much!
Good luck continuing on, you really seem like you have experienced so much already! (apart from frustration). Please keep the posts coming, boys! I read them everyday and am thinking of the two of you often!!
Peace!
If there’s anything we can do, let us know! Does your insurance cover any part of the stolen backpack?
I hope things are getting better and you’re having the time of your life!
